The Australian Christian Lobby has described as outrageous the plans by gay activists to demonstrate against Margaret Court at the Australian Tennis Open on Monday.
“Kerryn Phelps has said gays are sick of being punching bags, but who is doing the punching here and look at who they have chosen as a target,” said ACL Managing Director Jim Wallace.
“Margaret Court is the Bradman of women’s tennis, a national icon as well as a 70 year old lady, and the personalised attacks on her are outrageous,” he said.
“That activists could be calling for Margaret Court’s name to be removed from the stadium that rightly honours her is unbelievable, and typifies the selfishness of an agenda that pays no regard to the feelings or reputation of anyone else, not even a national icon,” said Mr Wallace.
“Margaret Court has never sought to use either her status or this event to politicise her views, or even publicise them, instead the gay activists have, and with unbelievable vitriol,” he said.
“This typifies the selfish and vitriolic way in which homosexual activists have pursued their whole agenda for same sex marriage, and this latest example will disgust most Australians,” he said.

Thank you to Margaret for standing up for her views. I believe that Christians voicing their opposition to homosexual marriage should be careful to not pretend heterosexual marriage is perfect & that traditional families are without flaw, & that they should offer real support to men & women wanting to raise their children well. I believe if the church as a whole was just as vocal against sexual abuse of children within families, domestic violence & immorality within marriage, people would take them more seriously. The ACL has a voice to speak up for ‘godly’ marriage, not just the institution of marriage. Aussies hate hypocrisy & when they see churches protect the perpetrators of crimes within the family, or even cover it up, they don’t take our opposition to gay marriage as valid. Thank you.
I cannot understand your point here Lisa. The issue is the vitriolic attack on a much respected Australian woman of 70 years of age and the forum they have selected. Who is claiming heterosexual marriage is perfect, where do we see “churches” protecting the perpetrators of crimes within the family or covering it up? May I suggest you read the documents Revising Marriage? published 16 May 2011 and Considerations Regarding Proposals to Give Legal Recognition to Unions Between Homosexual Persons 31 July 2003 to give you a proper understanding of the issues. Both can be located on Google search engine. The fact that we are all sinners is a given in the Christian faith.
It is outrageous that the radical monority could verbalise a national sporting icon to force their radical agenda down our throats. Keep up the good work Margaret
Bad things happen continue to happen when good people continue to do nothing….How could this happen in the lucky country..Rod
As someone said in todays news it is the new ‘Rainbow Fasicism’.
People who are perfectly entitled to their own views and opinions but who put any opposing views under the Jackboot. They decry opposing views using any tactic, no matter how dirty or illogical. They cry “separation of religion and state”, oh – and media and education; but it seems the new rainbow religion, new morals and new values for our society apparently should be allowed open slather when it comes to politics and obviously the media and sadly education. For a society which has its foundation in the Christian morals and values we are now apparently ‘maturing’ out of that mould into something quite formless and selfish. The rights of the individual, now seem to be more important that the collective rights of our society as a whole.
Thank you Margaret for standing up for marriage. It never ceases to amaze me how vitriolic and tasteless the attacks on anyone who opposes same sex marriage (whatever that is). It is sad that such an icon of Australian sport is the target of the homosexual lobby. People are entitled to their views but not to be so nasty in the way they apply pressure and judgement to those who oppose. Perhaps one could say the homosexual lobby protest too much and too harshly. Perhaps they know they wrong and most people support the stance against same sex marriage.
Well done Margaret Court! We all need to stand up for Christian marriage, for the rights of unborn children and for the right of a child to have a female mother and a male father, and other fundamental Christian rights because all these things are under attack. This is warfare of a different kind and our lives and our children’s and grandchildren’s lives depend upon Christian values being recognised and honoured. It will call for a lot of effort and a very great deal of prayer.
Wow – picking on a 70 year old woman whether a sporting icom or not is pretty cowardly. So much for gay pride. Nothing to be proud of. When will the gays realize that their are many many people who disagree with them. Disagreement does not mean hate!
Nothing new here. The gay activists will trample on anyone or anything to further their twisted cause.
It’s time to talk about Christian marriage. Other religions may care to address the gay lobby claim for “equality” in marriage and the gays may choose to attack Islam but I doubt it. The attack on Margaret Court is equally cowardly. Many Christians fail in marriage and I am one. God’s way cannot be judged by my failure. We do not doubt the measure of love homosexuals feel for each other but marriage is more than feelings, in Christian marriage it aims also at procreation. Enough said

Christians can no longer be passive viewers of the world and expect God to solve everything. Our rights to speak out about our beliefs are being targeted daily. God gave us the authority to speak out in his name and yet we become more timid with each attack. We are meant to be the light that exposes the darkness.
Kerryn Phelps is wrong in what she says. When you speak out the truth you will find that many non-Christians recognize that truth and will agree with you. That will give you more courage to speak again in Gods name. Your light shining in church is useful but not bright, your light shining in the community is a lighthouse of hope for all every Australian who feels powerless and lost in todays dissolving society. Be brave and speak the Word. It is powerful.
Romans 1:18 – 24 says it all
Thank you ACL and all, for standing by Margaret Court….I gave her book on the subject of Courage to my daughter. I need to take a leaf out of that book myself and simply say:
that if Ms.Karen Phelps had the slightest inkling of what she was saying, both in regard to “Rainbow Flags” and even Medical advice, she would have closed her mouth by now.Unfortunately ignorance is the most prevalent commodity in this day and age. Fancy villifying a 70 year old Courageous Woman who has done more for this Country and its Women, than Ms. Phelps could ever dream of achieving.
Shalom
I am appalled at the “grand slamming” of Margaret Court
The “gay” lobby have no respect for themselves or anybody else. They will attack any body who doesn’t support or conform to their “marriage” and are after two things – respect and visibility – and are forcing their views on the vast majority through successful political lobbying together with the judicial system to silence any opposition.
The bottom line is their relationships are dead end as they cannot produce children for the next generation.
The vast majority of Australians need to stand up to the “same sex” mantra but are frightened due to possible legal action which would destroy their reputations, affect their families not to mention the financial cost in defending their commonsense biological facts.
Jesus said that whatever is in the heart of people will come out – (Matthew 15: 18 – 19) That speaks volumes
I am so pleased that Margaret has stood up and is willing to be a voice for Christian Moral values in our nation. It’s a tough road to take as the bullets will fly, but my oh my, do we need that voice. C’mon Aussies who care about our nation and the decaying moral world we find ourselves a part of – let’s support this woman and show these pollies and activists that Margaret Court is not alone.
Margaret Court is a great australian woman! What an asset to this nation.
The gay community won a strategic victory when without supporting evidence, they changed the definition of homosexuality from ‘something they are’ from ‘something they do!’ They have won the majority of the population over with their complaining about valid rejection. Their are quite a few logic steps in their arguments that warrant investigation.
