Make Poverty History is encouraging Australians to send a letter to the Prime Minister urging the government to keep its commitment to halve global poverty by 2015. Both major political parties have promised to lift aid spending to 0.5% of GNI by 2015. However, there has been speculation that the government may cut aid in the budget.
Please go to Make Poverty History to sign an email to the Prime Minister and Treasurer to show your support for Australia keeping its promise to the world’s poorest people.
Please do so in the next couple of days.

I would rather choose where my money goes. There is no way I want the present government choosing my charties. Wake up people, socialism doesn’t work!
Dear Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition,
We have just so so much in this country. How can we possibly understand people who live on $2 a day and not feel ashamed of ourselves? We must care for our neighbours like those in Timor Leste, and other desperately poor countries.
We can certainly afford it! Let’s be generous to those who, without our help, will perish. Have a heart for the poor and vulnerable.
