MEDIA RELEASE
Thursday 6 September 2012
The Prime Minister’s decision to withdraw from the Australian Christian Lobby’s national conference is based on inaccurate media reporting and misrepresentation by gay activists.
Australian Christian Lobby Managing Director Jim Wallace said the decision would come as a deep disappointment to Australia’s Christian constituency.
“This is a victory for the relentless campaign of demonization against anyone who would challenge the gay activists’ agenda in the public square.”
Mr Wallace said at no stage did he say that “smoking is healthier than gay marriage”, as reported by some media.
“What I did say is that heterosexual sex and homosexual sex are different and have different health consequences. They should not be packaged the same way as marriage because, as just one of many reasons, they are different.
“If we warn against smoking because it carries health dangers, we should also be warning young people in particular about activity which clearly carries health risks,” Mr Wallace said.
“The experience in places like Massachusetts is that it is very difficult to have this conversation where the lifestyle is held to be the equal of marriage.”
Mr Wallace rejected the characterisation of himself and the ACL as heartless.
“This is a blow to free speech of which there will be even greater pressure if the definition of marriage is changed,” Mr Wallace said.
“It is disappointing that the Prime Minister has acted so hastily on the basis of misreporting and false information from gay activists.”

I am disappointed that instead of being humble and repentive as suggest in the bible Jim and the ACL have continued to attack. I will be speaking to my minister on Sunday and asking him to encourage our Christian Group to form a lobby group that actually display Christian Values!!!
Jim thank you for tackling this very important issue. Teenagers who are confused about their sexual orientation tend to take precious little notice of risks of certain sexual acts, and to present the homosexual lifestyle as the same as marriage does a disservice to all. It is a mark of respect to be honest about the risks of behaviour and if ripnroll campaign is acceptable then this accords with statements you made.
It seems, once again, that if you really want the facts on this debate, you can’t get them from the media.
Thanks for this. We need more people to stand up and say what needs to be said.
I just wanted to encourage Jim and the ACL team to not give up or be discouraged but to continue speaking for God. Bless you all
The PM’s absence is no great loss I would have thought. In fact, given (inter alia) her views on faith, I was surprised to see that she had been invited to address a Christian onference. Thank goodness no one suggested Bob Brown or Christine Milne!
I see the Prime Minister’s withdrawal from the ACL Conference as an answer to prayer. The Prime Minister is on the EMILY list on the internet. This means that she is in favour of and is working towards making abortion legal for any reason up to the end of the third trimester, just before birth. I believe that such a person should not be invited to address an ACL Conference.
Those activists promoting homosexualist-ideology seek to shut down any debate about the unnatural homosexual lifestyle.
These activists don’t want free speech because free speech can bring the truth out about: homosexual lifestyle/practices major health issues; conflict of homosexual behaviours with nature’s physical design for their bodies; homosexualist agendas to adopt innocent children(creating a new ‘stolen generation’ with huge adverse repercussions for society) who actually require natural parents from whom they can learn to be parents (i.e. via a natural-female-mother & a natural-male-father as nature designs for human/mammal species, & has been the done for millenia ….).
It’s interesting to note that many homosexuals are leaders in the Green movement, yet are out of tune with nature’s design for their physical bodies(only delusion can’t see that a man is designed for a woman, & a woman designed for a man)
They seek to gag the heterosexual majority and stop their own from seeking the help that they need in relation to their self-destructive, family destructive, homosexual lifestyle.
They blame the heterosexual majority for their problems (e.g. depression, suicide ..), but these problems directly result from homosexual practices/lifestyle. They refuse to acknowledge that it’s the homosexual practices/lifestyle itself that is the root-cause of such problems.
All credit to Jim Wallace for saying it like it is.
Politicians pandering to “political correctness” has cost this country dearly.
It’s a shame Julia Gillard didn’t take up the opportunity to address the conference and present her views first hand.
Re: Comments from Jim Wallace.
It should come as no surprise that the Prime Minister has cancelled here chance to address the ACL’s National conference.
The current media has proven again that it will do anything to demonise any organisation (especially one with any semblance of Judeo-Christian values), that dares to ‘attack’ the current progressive movement in its attempts to rationalise the gay lifestyle.
The Prime Minister has taken the option to ‘vote with her feet’, rather than engage in a rational debate and once again kow-tow to the the left, progressive, gay, anti Christian elements of the community.
Hardly surprising given her current life style choices.
I commend Jim Wallace for his brave and thought provoking comments, no doubt he is again finding the Australian Media proving a more hostile environment to operate in than the Middle East was in his earlier military life!
Keep up the good work.
Please do not apologise for the comments made by Jim Wallace.
It has been known for years now that the homosexual lifestyle carries with it a number of very grave medical consequences.
The attempt to squash any discussion of these is appalling.
Just as we now know how damaging cigarette smoking is and try to discourage our children from doing it, so we need to warn them of the dangers of the homosexual lifestyle. Ti try and prevent a warning being given to our youing people is nothing less than a form of child abuse.
Mr Wallace, so many people are proud of you for what you said. I would encourage you not to apologise, because that means you would be apologising for the Lord, and He is able to handle Himself.
This is only the beginning of the inquisition led by the gaypower and its radical demonic agenda. However if we don’t back down we will win this battle. Take courage from the CEO of Chic-fil-a in the States, and remember the support he got from the real majority out there.
I would reckon that a majority of people in this country would agree with you – even though they may not admit it. Soldier on – you must because you are in a spiritual battle.
Her attendance at the Conference would not be a popular vote catcher…..it’s all about politics!!
There’s no point in trying to affirm religious freedom by attempting to include an atheist into the process. How true to her word has the prime minister been in previous cases? Wasted time and wasted effort, and an unreasonable and deceiving back’lash from various politicians is the result.
