NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell has established a parliamentary inquiry to examine state-based same-sex marriage.
The inquiry follows the announcement last year that a cross-party group of state MPs plan to introduce state-based same-sex marriage legislation in the NSW parliament.
If you are a NSW resident, we encourage you to join in ACL’s ‘Make a Stand’ campaign by lodging a submission to parliament and ask them to protect marriage from redefinition.
Submissions are due by 1st March 2013.
You can lodge your submission online here.
Please visit ACL’s campaign page for more information on what to include in your submission.

I am not from NSW but I, as a member of the human family, object to any politician or judge interfering with the unique human phenomenon we call marriage. Marriage is not a political product; it cannot be shaped, restructured or renovated to suit the whims and fancies prevailing at any given time. If one group of politicians are allowed to redefine marriage then others will do the same at another time, and there will be no end to redefinitions. This will result in chaos and court cases.
When two people from the two genders built into our human nature commit themselves to each other they create a marriage as the organs associated with these genders beautifully and meaningfully merge. This merger is the only human relationship that has the capacity to naturally provide humanity with stability and continuity.
This is why it is unique. This is why it must be protected and strengthened.
Marriage is to humanity what time and gravity are to our physical world. Think about it. If we tried to defy gravity we would come unstuck. If we play with marriage we will suffer the consequences.
I know that Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims will not budge on this issue. Christians should remember that Jesus said that it was for marriage that God made us Male and Female. A christian who says otherwise is contradicting our Lord.
At the moment, all permanent relationships in Australia – married or not – have the same legal rights. Leave it that way. Do not try to redefine human nature.
So well said Mal. I support your post 100%.
If the definition of marriage goes through, they will be rejecting most of Australia’s population just to suit the desires of a few whimsical people who couldn’t care less about children and the effects it will have on them, and the chaos it will create.
The government thinks it has problems now? This un-natural change would have consequences they never dreamed of.
We need strong Parliamentarians who will not give in to the pressures and desires of the minority groups who keep having tantrums like little children to get what they want for their own benefit and pleasure, just to laugh in our face and be able to say they got their own way. That is what this is about.
The gay people have their freedom to have a relationship and should be happy with that.
Very well stated Mel, l also go along with Adela and agree with your post. The reason l support the the Bible’s view is because of John. 3:16 and the confidence that my God knows what He’s doing. Cheers
Marriage between a man and woman is a natural and spiritual order essential for the continuation of species. A man/man or woman/woman relationship does not produce offspring, and is therefor NOT the norm !
Furthermore, sexual union ( other than man and woman ) has and is blighting the world with medical problems which are totally unnessessary .
Same sex marriage is a misnomer, for the `marriage` must fail and fall short ultimately.
