The recent Tasmanian Greens’ motion that expressed in-principle support for 'marriage equality' (same-sex marriage) has left many confused and some even thinking Tasmania has legalised same-sex marriage! Even my brother in NZ heard it reported over there as such.
The motion passed was not a bill and was in effect inconsequential as all it did is tell the federal government that the Tasmanian Labor-Greens alliance supports redefining marriage, something already well known. The motion did not go through the upper house so was not a reflection of the views of the Tasmanian Parliament either.
Please keep informed on this debate through the new Australian Marriage Forum

has been developed to help people understand the same-sex marriage debate, send emails to pollies, and sign a petition
that targets the ALP national conference in early December.
