It is just one month to the ACL national conference.

This is our chance together to influence Australia’s political conversation for good.

As Christians, we believe we have a responsibility to contribute to building a nation of character.

Our theme this year is Speak Up! It comes from Proverbs 31:8 which encourages us to speak up for those who cannot speak up for themselves.

Conference speakers will shine a light on the rights of children, religious freedom, the plight of persecuted Christians, the unborn, reconciliation with indigenous people, refugees and much more.

We are privileged to have the Opposition Leader Bill Shorten as our keynote speaker. Assistant Minister for Immigration, Michaelia Cash, is joining us from the Government.

One of the big national debates on the go is the proposal to hold a referendum in 2017 about recognising indigenous people in the constitution. The Shadow Indigenous Affairs Minister Shayne Neumann will speak about this.

Our Friday evening dinner will be addressed by Bishop Anthony Fisher who last week was appointed by Pope Francis as the Archbishop-elect of the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney.

I’m sure you will agree that this is a stellar line-up. I hope you can join us.
