The first Meet Your Candidate forum run by the ACL in the Queensland 2015 election campaign was a great success.

Held in the Lytton electorate on Tuesday evening, over 90 people gathered to hear all five candidates pitch their values. Liberal National Party candidate Neil Symes was in attendance as well as Joan Pease from the Australian Labor Party and Greens candidate Dave Nelson. Additionally, the electorate has Tamera Michel and Jamie Evans standing as Independent candidates. For three of the candidates this is their first appearance in politics and their first candidate forum.

It’s clear how passionate the audience was about local issues from the hard-hitting questions candidates were asked. Local Healthcare, disability accommodation and in particular the future of the Wynnum hospital were the key areas of interest.

Overall the night was an encouraging display of voters looking for integrity in their politicians, and fearlessly asking tough questions in a respectful way.

Looking forward to the rest of the Meet Your Candidate forums in Gladstone, Mackay, Capalaba, Mansfield, Pumicestone. See you there!?
