Former Deputy Prime Minister and Leader of the National Party John Anderson recently spoke at the Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on Thursday 10 March, with roughly 350 people in attendance. His speech, entitled ‘Lose the faith – lose the culture', contained this apt analogy:

“As a farmer, if you want to grow a good crop, you have to first till the soil in which a crop is grown. The crop of freedom, of democracy, of all of the good things that we take for granted in our lives, is in fact Christianity, and yet our society has moved away from it and so little understands now the soil in which the crops of freedom are grown, that I do not believe we can expect to continue to grow those crops.”
