The Safe Night Out Strategy commenced by the QLD LNP whilst in power has been given an important boost with the Labor Government’s lock-out laws passed in parliament last night, according to the Australian Christian Lobby.

Australian Christian Lobby QLD director Wendy Francis said the laws were passed through successful negotiations with Katter’s Australian Party.

“This is an excellent demonstration of a minority government working with a minor party to reach a goal that is mutually shared by all parties,” Ms Francis said.

“While there was some controversy surrounding the implementation of the lock-out laws, all parties have demonstrated that they are committed to curbing the tragedy of alcohol-fuelled violence.

“It is encouraging to see Robbie Katter and Shane Knuth from Katter’s Australian Party take a firm stand by supporting this legislation.”

“These laws are only a part of a bigger picture, but they are nonetheless important and we congratulate the Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and her team for a good result.
