Description: Professor Somerville is an internationally acclaimed and respected advocate for the case against euthanasia. Professor Somerville holds professorships in both the Faculty of Law (where she holds the Samuel Gale Chair) and the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University, and was the founding director of the McGill Centre for Medicine, Ethics and Law. She has consulted for international organisations such as the Global Programme on AIDS of the World Health Organisation, UNAIDS, the United Nations Human Rights Commission in Geneva, and law reform commissions in Canada and Australia.
