There were two stories in The Australian over the weekend that are worth reading. Frank Furedi's article “Is that biological determinism in your genes, or are you Gaga about free will?” about Lady Gaga’s new song “Born this way” argues that she has "fallen prey to the fatalistic doctrine of biological determinism". He writes that our genes influence our behaviour but don't determine who we are.

In Angela Shanahan's article "Murky business of donor conception is having a brutal effect on the offspring" she shines a light on the issues of donor conception and the fact that child's rights to know it's biological parents are being ignored. She writes that the recent Senate committee report on the issue will have far-reaching effects on this issue of homosexual marriage.
