ACL's Managing Director Lyle Shelton spoke to ABC News radio about the ACT's introduction of a same-sex marriage bill into Parliament this week. He contends that the issue of marriage is a federal one and should be decided by the Commonwealth Parliament, and that it has, on a number of occasions, shown it does not have an appetite for redefining marriage.
The territory's minor Labor government will present its Marriage Equality Bill to the Legislative Assembly on Thursday.
