The Australian Christian Lobby is encouraging parents of teenage girls and schools to support a counter-culture magazine for high school girls.  Bella has relaunched this month with a new look and a new name bella rae – which means beauty and grace.

The ACL says the magazine is a positive alternative to the trashy teenage magazines which sexualises girls. By buying this magazine and encouraging others to read it, people will be sending a clear message to politicians that there is an appetite for change. The ACL believes parents should also stop their teenagers from purchasing sexualised magazines. Already this has had success with Zoo magazine no longer published.

ACL spokesperson for children Wendy Francis said “We want the demand for good magazines to be so strong that the major supermarket chains will want to replace their sexualised magazines with wholesome magazines.”

In the pages of bella rae magazine you’ll find a vibrant collection of expert advice, real stories, role models with substance, fashion shoots, travel adventures, recipes and quizzes. We hope bella rae will empower girls to get real, talk about the hard things, challenge the culture they live in and choose to live with hope, empathy, intelligence and creativity.

The magazine world can be a superficial, flashy and trashy one with hit-and-miss information. We hope to be a resource and friend young women can trust.
