The NSW Parliament is in a rush to decriminalise abortion up to birth. Our NSW supporters can act now to stop this happening.
Today, the NSW Legislative Assembly began debating the Reproductive Health Care Reform Bill 2019. The proposed law would give our state one of the most permissive abortion laws in the world. A marathon debate on the Bill has begun in the Legislative Assembly. MPs are bunkering down for a long night.
The Bill is radical. It will allow abortion without limitations up to 22 weeks (a little over 5 months).
After 22 weeks, abortion will be permitted until birth, provided two doctors consider the “current and future physical, psychological and social circumstances” of the mother. This is late term abortion on demand, of viable babies who could live outside the womb if delivered at that stage.
The Bill removes freedom of conscience for health practitioners. Pro-life doctors will be obliged to refer a patient seeking an abortion to a doctor who will perform the abortion.
You can be instrumental in stopping this Bill. Some MPs, worried about the tactics of the Bill’s supporters, are still undecided. Emails and calls to MPs offices can assist form their views. MPs need to know your strong opposition. You can email your MP using the link below.
Please pray. Pray that MPs turn back from this path and vote against the Bill and --also that our culture remembers the inherent dignity of the unborn.
As the Psalmist says:
For it was you who formed my inward parts;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; that I know very well.
Those who govern our State should be protecting life, not sanctioning its destruction. Unless we take practical steps to affirm every human being’s dignity, we will continue to see radical, permissive legislation introduced into our Parliament.
