ACL’s Northern Territory Director (also Director for Qld), Wendy Francis, spent last week in Darwin and Palmerston.
“It was great to meet with around 60 of our supporters on Friday night at Marrara Christian College for dinner and conversation,” said Wendy. “There were also many opportunities through the week to connect with Members of the Legislative Assembly who were very welcoming and interested in our work.”
Wendy also met with NT Opposition Leader, Ms Lia Finocchiaro, in the NT Parliament House (pictured above). In particular, Wendy shared with the Parliamentarians three concerns:
- Children’s easy access to online pornography
- The threat of assisted suicide laws in the NT
- The growing need for religious freedom legislation
The information regarding our children’s innocence was particularly impactful, with each of them acknowledging the havoc that is caused by pornography on our children’s wellbeing.
With the Federal Government currently looking at introducing age-verification laws to protect children from inappropriate images, the NT MLA’s – on both sides of the house – were keen to learn more about how they can assist in protecting the Territory’s children from harm.
We are grateful to God for opening doors for the message of truth across the nation.
