Therefore CHOOSE LIFE

I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore CHOOSE LIFE, that you and your offspring may live!

Never have those words from Deuteronomy 30:19 held such importance for Australians. In October last year, the ALP government successfully legislated for abortion to be available in Queensland at any stage of pregnancy. This is diabolical. Children by Choice estimate that up to 14,000 abortions occur annually in Queensland and that about 1 in 3 women will have an abortion. This makes the womb the most dangerous place in the world for a baby – a tragedy beyond comprehension. Concurrently, Queensland experts are warning of lasting health, economic and social implications resulting from record low birth rates of 1.77 babies per woman, slightly higher than the national birth rate of 1.74.

This is not a time to be downcast and defeated. It is a time to speak up all the more loudly for life. ACL will continue to advocate on behalf of the babies in the womb.

The ALP government have also initiated an inquiry that encompasses the potentiality of euthanasia legislation for our state. As I speak to people around our State I find that this is an area that is accompanied by much confusion, even for those in the church. If you are unsure of where you stand on this issue, please contact us – it’s so important to understand God’s heart on this.

Every human life is valuable and possesses intrinsic dignity because we are made in God’s image. Human dignity and value is not measured by mobility, intelligence or any achievements. To propose euthanasia for someone is to judge their life to be without worth and dignity and to have no worthwhile – therefore they should be killed. Patients who are old or sick, or who are near the end of their earthly life have the same value as any other human being, as do those with mental or physical handicaps. As we can see from the current inquiry being conducted into elder abuse, it is impossible for any euthanasia legislation to legislate against such abuse.

At ACL, we are in this fight for life for the long haul. We believe every life is precious, every life is worth fighting for. Join us.
