Vic: Last week for action

This is the last week to fight the battle against Victoria’s ‘conversion’ bill – so I urge you to fight on!

The battle over Dan Andrews’ Change or Suppression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Bill 2020 has been a long one.

Since the day we heard a rumour about its tabling… to the bill being passed in the Lower House before Christmas… till now, many Christians, pastors, ex-LGBT groups, and various faith groups have been working around the clock to ensure our voice is heard.

In the past month, I briefed the Muslim, Korean, Indonesian, and Chinese communities about the bill – as well as our ACL volunteers – on actions to take.

In just a few weeks, some 5,000 people signed petitions which I delivered to the office of Bernie Finn MP. To get that many signatures in less than one month is incredible! I congratulate you and thank you for your great effort!

Last week, more than 30 representatives from different denominations and faith groups met together, united in their opposition to the bill. At the time of writing…

You really have done an amazing job! We couldn’t have made it to this point without your faith and action. However, our battle is not over yet.

This is the final week before the bill is going to be debated and voted on next Tuesday, 2 February, in the Upper House. Please continue to fight on! Let’s put on the attitude to keep going – no matter what – to win this fight.

In this final week, please call your Upper House MPs to let them know that you expect them to oppose the Conversion bill. And please PRAY that God will move in the hearts of the MPs and lead them to defend religious freedom and parental rights.

Let me remind you that not a single Liberal MP opposed this bill when it went before the Lower House. Some MPs have stated that they would need to see a much stronger show of outrage by Victorian churches in order for them to oppose the bill on 2 February.

This is a defining moment for Victoria, and for our nation. Let’s keep up the good fight!

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

– Galatians 6:9
