Reports at the weekend that children in Western Australia seeking to transition has gone up 350 per cent in the last four years highlights a worrying national trend, says the Australian Christian Lobby.
“Across the country, we are seeing a dramatic increase in the number of children struggling with gender identity and wanting to transition,” said Martyn Iles, ACL’s managing director.
“The radical gender agenda forgets what is at stake here – once children are given stage two cross-sex hormones it sends them down a damaging and frankly, irreversible path.”
“We should not be allowing children to make such permanent and life-altering decisions, particularly in light of the fact that we know between 80 and 90 per cent of children revert to their natal sex once they reach puberty,” commented Mr Iles.
ACL’s WA director Peter Abetz urged; “If left alone and not encouraged to pursue a gender different to their sex, most kids will embrace their biological sex and gender.”
“We do far more harm than good when we pressure kids into making decisions or make decisions for them, that alter their bodies with consequences that they will have to live with the rest of their lives,” stated Mr Abetz.
