Christian leaders from across Australia will gather tonight and tomorrow for the Australian Christian Lobby National Conference at the National Press Club, Canberra. Many have come to hear Hon Peter Costello address the topic of Christian values and Australia’s heritage and Wayne Swan’s address on how to halt the splintering of the nation.
Christian representatives from a broad spectrum of Christian denominations will gather, along with representatives from major Christian organizations and associations for a conference entitled Values: Building a Nation of Character.
The conference begins tonight with an address by Dr Greg Clarke, which asks, “Are Australian values Christian values?” The Saturday sessions include a keynote address by Hon Peter Costello and presentation by Shadow Treasurer Wayne Swan.
“Character is underpinned by values,” said Jim Wallace, “And it is anticipated that all speakers will address the need for strong consideration of values in the areas of religious freedom, restorative justice, healing brokenness and strengthening families.”
