We need your help. The children and future generations of Queenslanders need your help.

The Queensland Government has tabled a new law in parliament, imposing potential jail time and/or a hefty fine for health professionals who don’t toe the gender-fluid line. Specifically, any doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist, social worker, pharmacist, ambulance officer, other health professional or counsellor faces a $20,000 fine, 18 months behind bars - or both.

This government legislation dictates a one-way approach to helping children confused about whether they are a boy or a girl. It will be illegal to assist anyone seeking help resisting gender dysphoria or unwanted same-sex attraction.

The legislation in parliament right now:

  • completely ignores childhood gender dysphoria and what health professionals believe to be in the child’s best interests;
  • bans affirming a child’s biological sex if they express a desire to be another gender;
  • limits therapeutic options and makes positive discussion of psychotherapies illegal;
  • bans what was once legal and standard practice;
  • silences dissenting thought, valid science and private liberty.

The Queensland Government’s Bill defines ‘conversion therapy’ as any ‘treatment or other practice that attempts to change or suppress a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity’. This bans any attempt to re-orient a confused child back to a gender identity consistent with their chromosomes.

The ALP no longer believes that Queenslanders are born male or female.  They are legislating against discussion and practice of anything other than transitioning a gender-confused child to a nominated gender.

It is deeply troubling for a political party to adopt a rigidly ideological position and then force all Queensland families and children into that ideology.

The Government has referred this Bill to the Health, Communities, Disability Services and Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Committee for consideration. The Committee has called for feedback from all Queenslanders. This is urgent - please take action today. By using our form below your response will be provided to your local Member of Parliament and also to the Health Committee. We have provided some suggested wording, but we do encourage you to add your own concerns.
