First Australian State to legalise euthanasia.

On the 19th of June 2019, assisted suicide began in Victoria. Victoria is the first Australian State to legalise euthanasia.

Before its introduction, hundreds of faithful Victorians rallied on the steps of Parliament House on June 18 to protest the implementation of assisted suicide and to plead with sitting members to overturn legislation that allows state-sanctioned suicide.

The Victorian government has already breached one of the safeguards in the legislation by introducing ‘Navigators’ that can raise the issue of euthanasia with patients - something doctors are not allowed to do.

Watch ACL's VIC Director, Dan Flynn for more on the effect assisted suicide will have in Victoria.

Other states should not follow Victoria on the path of state-sanctioned killing.
