Media Release: Wednesday, 7 November, 2007

With only 17 days until the election, the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) has now held four ‘Meet Your Candidate Forums’, with around 56 more planned for the next two weeks.

ACL Managing Director Jim Wallace today praised Christians for their support of the forums, which are seeing a solid response from the Christian community.

“Last night more than 130 people turned out to a forum in Springwood, NSW, for the Macquarie electorate and on Monday night forums held for the Forrest electorate in WA and the Rankin electorate in Queensland both drew around 80 interested Christians. Last Friday night a forum held in Taree for the Lyne electorate also received a good response,” Mr Wallace said.

“It is wonderful to see Christians showing support for these forums and, in the process, giving candidates the opportunity to gain an appreciation of the importance of the Christian vote.”

“More than ever, Christians are interested in politics and want to know what their candidates stand for. The Meet Your Candidate Forums offer them a chance to find out the views of candidates in their electorate, ask questions, and make an informed vote at the election.

On the next two pages are details of most of the upcoming Meet Your Candidate Forums, with some venues still being finalised. Information about the forums can also be found at
