Government announces FDV support services in Longman

An additional $500,000 in federal government funding to help family domestic violence services in the electorate of Longman, Queensland has been welcomed by Australian Christian Lobby.

Caboolture and the surrounding area has one of the highest rates of family and domestic violence in the state.

ACL Queensland director Wendy Francis today said, “It is critical that women, children and men who are experiencing or at risk of family and domestic violence have access to the services and support they need.”

“People are often sceptical about pre-election announcements but the advocacy of Liberal National Party candidate for Longman, Trevor Ruthenberg, should be recognised. Those facing family and domestic violence need all the care and support they can get and we can never let politics make us sceptical or cynical about doing good.”

“The increase in funding to Women’s Legal Service Queensland will ensure those who request help have expanded access to the services they need in a time of crisis.”

ACL believe in the inherent worth of the human being, and that no one should be treated with violence or live under the threat of violence.
