You are invited

Religious freedom in Australia, and most definitely in Victoria, is at a crucial juncture. How we respond is even more important.

At the commonwealth level the Ruddock Religious Freedom Review Report has been handed to the government for the Prime Minister’s consideration.

I expect the report will be made public shortly and so I write to invite you to an exclusive church leader update in Melbourne.

Please RSVP below for this invitation only briefing.

Religious Freedom Briefing

Martyn Iles, Managing Director of Australian Christian Lobby, will brief church and ministry leaders on the latest developments regarding religious freedom and open the forum for Q&A discussion.

Martyn is a lawyer with considerable expertise in this field. Last year, as Director of the Human Rights Law Alliance, he gave evidence to a Senate Inquiry urging protection for religious freedoms.

The Australian reported on 19 May that upon receipt of the report, Prime Minister Turnbull said he was “absolutely committed to ensuring freedom of religion is protected in Australia”.  This sounds wonderful but there are many risks to navigate.

Of significant concern is the possible restrictions on parental rights and religious freedom arising from a Victorian Government Inquiry into so called gay conversion.

This will be an important and timely briefing on the anticipated practical and pastoral effects of the Ruddock Report and Victorian Inquiry.

We look forward to equipping you and your leadership team at this important discussion.
