Labor target another group of vulnerable Queenslanders

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk promised the state government wouldn’t look at euthanasia legislation during this term, making her policy backflip at the weekend during Labor’s state conference even more concerning, said the Australian Christian Lobby.

“It’s disappointing to see the Premier go back on her word and announce an inquiry into euthanasia and assisted suicide,” said Wendy Francis, ACL’s state director.

“The Labor left are not satisfied with bringing in the most progressive abortion legislation in Australia, now they want to target another group of vulnerable people.”

“If the recent defeat of euthanasia legislation in the federal senate taught us anything, it’s that when parliamentarians are provided with the very real and grave concerns medical practitioners have about euthanasia they quickly change their mind.”

ACL will continue to uphold the dignity of all life and will urge Queensland parliamentarians to look at the evidence and vote against any bill that will legalise the assisted suicide of vulnerable people.
