It’s been another whirlwind week for the Team at ACL.
More than 200 people attended our inaugural West Australian conference in Perth, an initiative of our WA Director Dahlia Messiha and a great success.
Victorian Director Dan Flynn was in the thick of the euthanasia battle, appearing on several television news bulletins on Friday night after the proposed legal framework was announced.
Back in WA, it was encouraging to see conference goers so energised by our world-class line-up of speakers covering topics from euthanasia, marriage, human rights for the unborn and freedom of religion.
Keynote speaker Professor Margaret Somerville was a powerhouse of information on why euthanasia is probably the most dangerous public policy issue facing our nation.
It was so strategic having her speak, given the new WA Government is looking to promote euthanasia, along with the current push in Victoria.
I can’t wait for our National Conference in Sydney in November – please save November 18 and plan to be in Sydney.
Last Thursday I was asked to appear on the Speers Tonight show on Sky News with Peter van Onselen filling in for David Spears.
This was a rare television opportunity for a long form discussion on why supporters of marriage are not bigots. It was a chance to outline the consequences of redefining marriage in more than just sound bites.
PVO was fair and asked relevant questions but it was clear he had never heard many of the concerns I was raising.
The education task on the importance of preserving the definition of marriage remains immense.
I was also asked about challenges to Christianity and had the chance to explain the Bible’s role in shaping our society and warn of the consequences of throwing Christianity out with the bathwater.
I was asked about refugee policy and was able to put the case for generosity.
If you have a few moments, please watch the interview.
Last night I spoke at the Finley Christian Men’s Fellowship dinner in the Riverina before flying back to Sydney this morning. Thanks to John and Iris Everingham for hosting me.
Meanwhile, the Turnbull Government is considering the option of a postal plebiscite on marriage, which would by-pass the current Senate blockade. Please see our media release on this.
We are in the public policy fights of our lives on euthanasia and marriage and the truth about gender.
Please pray for our public meeting in Sydney this Friday night featuring University of Western Sydney paediatrician Professor John Whitehall and ACL’s Director of Research, Dr Elisabeth Taylor.
This is the last meeting of their very successful national tour raising awareness of the harms to children of “Safe Schools”-inspired gender fluid theory.
Prominent same-sex marriage activists are planning a protest. Please pray for peace and safety.
As you can see, life is never dull at ACL.
Your prayers, financial support and engagement with us are indispensable.
