NSW Residents, Welcome to “Equality” – Minns Government Abandons Women’s Safety and Common Sense

The Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) is disheartened by the passage of the Equality Bill through the NSW Parliament last night. This marks a dark day for the state as crucial protections for women, children, and families are dismantled under the guise of “equality.”

Joshua Rowe, NSW Director of the ACL, stated, “I struggle to find words for the absurdity of these laws. Women across NSW have just lost the safety of their own spaces, as sex self-identification on birth certificates puts the privacy and security of areas like change rooms, domestic violence shelters, and bathrooms at risk.”

The new laws also decriminalise activities that allow pimps to exploit vulnerable women and girls, while incentivising child trafficking through commercial surrogacy by making it easier for NSW residents to secure parentage orders for children born overseas.

Additionally, the legislation criminalises those who question biological sex, potentially punishing everyday Australians who speak out to protect their wives or daughters in female-only spaces.

“Labor claims the ‘broader community’ supports these changes, but tens of thousands of residents have voiced their opposition,” Rowe said. “Their concerns have been ignored in favour of political deals with the left.”

The ACL commends the Liberal and National parties for opposing these reforms. The Greens’ assertion that this is “only the beginning” signals that further erosion of protections is likely.

Rowe concluded, “Our advocacy is only just getting started. We will continue working with the Liberals to repeal these changes and restore protections for NSW families. The fight for truth, safety, and common sense continues despite what has happened today.”
