People of faith in Australia already face discrimination the Australian Christian Lobby revealed today.
“Since starting a religious freedom legal clinic in 2016, ACL has seen dozens of cases involving religious discrimination right across Australia,” Commented Managing Director Martyn Iles.
“Including people facing disciplinary action in both universities and workplaces, losing professional qualifications and even being fired for expressing their religious beliefs.
“No Australian should face marginalisation in any area of their life simply for expressing their faith identity.
“ACL has observed an increase in discrimination on the basis of religious belief, which is a cause for serious concern.
“This is why we need a religious discrimination act, because we are already seeing regular cases of religious discrimination in our communities.” Martyn Iles said.
