Northern Territory Opposition Leader, Terry Mills MLA will address Christians at a special event hosted by the Australian Christian Lobby in the lead up to this month's Territory election.

Make it Count - NT Votes 2012 will be held at Charles Darwin University on Thursday 9 August and will be webcast live to churches in Alice Springs.

“ACL Make it Count events are held at election time throughout Australia and play an important part in informing Christians’ votes,” said ACL Managing Director Jim Wallace.

"While Labor attended the Make it Count event for the last Territory election, it is disappointing that Mr Henderson has declined this one," said Mr Wallace, “But it clearly gives the Country Liberals Party (CLP) a unique opportunity to lay its agenda before this constituency.”

Church leaders at the event will also have the opportunity to ask questions of Mr Mills.

"Christians are concerned about a range of moral and social issues. They want to see a more moral, just and compassionate society," said Mr Wallace.

"I'm sure many people would have appreciated the opportunity to hear from Mr Henderson and to ask him questions. We are disappointed he has declined this opportunity to reach out to Christian voters."
