Territory Labor ghosts voters at Candidate Forum

The ruling Labor party was conspicuous by its absence from a diverse Candidate forum in Darwin on Tuesday night. Twelve candidates from the Greens, Country Liberal Party, Territory Alliance, and the Animal Justice Party accepted the Australian Christian Lobby’s invitation to the forum but not one Territory Labor candidate appeared, despite all being invited.

“The candidates were asked questions on many issues from the economy to the environment, solar power, youth crime, gender fluid ideology in schools, closing the gap and remote education,” ACL NT director Wendy Francis recalled, “It was an excellent opportunity for candidates to interact with a large audience. There was good discussion amongst candidates and common ground was found on a number of issues.”

“The Labor party’s failure to attend was noted by all present. Their boycott was particularly disappointing given that the forum’s focus was on Building Strong Families. Strong families will reduce domestic violence. Strong families mean fewer people in jail, and more children at home, off the streets and out of trouble. Strong families make for a good society.”

This pro-family message is also being delivered throughout the Territory by letterbox flyer which refers voters to the ACL election website.

The ACL does not endorse any particular party but supports good policies and candidates who understand what it takes to make a society flourish.
