A child has been exploited in prostitution in Melbourne, according to charges laid against Melbourne brothel operators. The case coincides with the Andrews Labor Government review into removing criminal penalties for sex work.
“Further decriminalisation will put more children in harm’s way,” ACL Victorian spokesperson Jasmine Yuen said today, “Victoria can protect children by adopting the Nordic model that fines men for treating women and children as commodities. This model also helps trafficked people exit the industry.”
“ACL calls on the Andrews government to include the Nordic model in its review, as it is the best way to protect children from sexual exploitation.”
