National Maternity Strategy

In a submission on National Strategies for Maternity care, the Australian Christian Lobby highlighted the central value as being the well being of mother and baby but also: promoting the family as the best social unit for children. Promoting perinatal mental health; supporting breastfeeding; and establishing perinatal palliative care.

The submission also stressed the importance of care in the first thousand days of life which commence with conception until the child’s second birthday.
