ACL is seeking a highly motivated person to fill the full-time role of Development Manager in its national office, Canberra.

ACL is funded by the generosity of both its grassroots supporters and its corporate donors. The appointment involves overseeing all aspects of ACL’s fundraising, improving its efficiency and productivity and expanding its strategy.

The Development Manager will be required to travel interstate from time to time in the discharge of his/her duties.

Responsibilities include:

Grow ACL’s funding base through increased giving from existing supporters and from new money from supporters the Development Manager cultivates.

Monitor the hierarchy of donors and supporters, maintain contact with them and work to see each category increase its contributions.

Work with the Managing Director to cultivate relationships with key supporters and major donors across the country.

Manage and execute quality fundraising events which achieve financial goals; as well as assist in relationship building with current and new donors.

Implement follow-up systems for fundraising strategies.

Implement new and innovative ways of fundraising to achieve objectives.

Oversee the strategy and implementation of appeals.

Stage ACL’s fundraising dinners, and host smaller corporate and regional fundraising forums.

Research new opportunities to fundraise.

Implement and grow ACL’s bequests program.

Oversee the maintenance of the ACL database, including data cleansing.

Expand ACL’s corporate sponsorship program.

Knowledge and Experience

Previous experience in fundraising and donor relations is required.

A tertiary qualification in marketing, public relations or a related field is highly desirable, but relevant experience will be taken into account.

The ability to liaise with and win the confidence and support of people in the corporate world.

The ability to maintain strict confidences.

Experience working with databases is preferred.

Competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Proven capacity to multitask under pressure.
