According to the United Nations High Commission on Refugees, there were over 15 million refugees worldwide in mid-2015. This highest level in 20 years.
The Australian Government has committed to increase Australia's humanitarian migrant intake and bring an additional 12,500 refugees fleeing the Syrian conflict.
The spread of ISIL in Iraq and Syria has led to millions of people, many of the Christians having to flee their homes. In 2015, ACL spoke with Philip Ruddock and Chris Hayes about the situation in the Middle East about the scale of the humanitarian crisis.
In November 2014, ACL organised Solidarity Sunday. A day where over 700 churches stopped to pray and raise awareness about global persecution.
