National Day of Prayer and Fasting, Sunday 2nd March

This year's National Day of Prayer and Fasting (NDOPF) will be on Sunday 2nd March 2014 in Canberra and around Australia.
The prayer service in Canberra will take place at in the Great Hall of Parliament House from 10am - 4pm.
Other local events have been organised around Australia for those who cannot make the journey to Canberra.
Queensland will hold their NDOPF on Saturday 1st March in the Premier's Room of the Parliamentary Annexe from 10am - 4pm. Other events have been organised in Toowoomba and Ipswich, as well as in Victoria and Western Australia. Follow

If you're unable to attend a local event, we encourage you to pray on the day in your own local church..
The NDOPF will be followed by 40 days of prayer and fasting throughout Lent, from 5th March to 13th April in your location.

Pope Francis announces day of prayer and fasting for Syria

Last Sunday, Pope Francis announced this Saturday 7th September a day of prayer and fasting for peace in Syria:
"To this end, brothers and sisters, I have decided to proclaim for the whole Church on 7 September next, a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and throughout the world, and I also invite each person, including our fellow Christians, followers of other religions and all men of good will, to participate, in whatever way they can, in this initiative."

The civil conflict in Syria began in 2011, with the death toll said to be well over 100,000. The United Nations estimates that more than 1.5 million refugees have now fled the country to Jordan and Lebanon. Last month, a chemical weapons attack alone killed over 1,400 civilians.

A National Day of Prayer and Fasting will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2013. It encourages local churches, para-church groups and individuals to pray and fast on this day as they feel led.
