Redefining Marriage was not supposed to redefine me!
The Greens and Labor, with the help of speaker Sue Hickey have forced through laws calling for biological sex to be removed from the birth certificates of all Tasmanians. It will be only be recorded if the parents specifically request it.
Don't let Labor and the Greens continue to push a radical gender agenda when this legislation was simply to ensure consistency with the new Commonwealth redefinition of marriage.
Another amendment that was passed by the lower house makes it possible for a person to be able to change their biological sex as easily as changing their name without having to undergo any reassignment surgery.
So, what will this do for women only spaces?
If someone can legally change their sex without having any form of sex reassignment surgery, there are serious concerns that women and girls will no longer be safe.
It could jeopardise women only safe spaces like bathrooms, change rooms and refuges as well as encourage serious dangerous inequalities in sport.
Mothers and Fathers
Another serious concern is the removal of ‘mother’ and ‘father’ from important legislation. This could result in birth certificates referring to ‘parent 1’ and ‘parent 2’ instead of the current ‘mother’ and ‘father’ of the child. This further erodes the importance of mums and dads.
The good news is that you can help stop these dangerous precedents being written into law
