In a series of TV advertisements, Tony Abbott last week announced "your opinion counts", pledging to tackle concerns raised with him.

With this in mind, we encourage you to contact the Leader of the Opposition and share with him your opinion on preserving the current definition of marriage in Australia.

We know that proponents of redefining marriage are putting pressure on Tony Abbott to allow a conscience vote for his party. Please write and ask him to maintain party discipline on the definition of marriage being between a man and a woman, which reflects their party policy,  and to not allow a conscience vote.

In 2012, the House of Representatives and the Senate rejected two bills that sought to change the Marriage Act to include same-sex couples. There is no doubt the response from so many of you in signing petitions, emailing your MPs and Senators and visiting them had a tremendous impact in this result.
