ACL acknowledges that abortion is an emotive issue and for many women a deeply sensitive one. Women who find themselves unexpectantly pregnant may feel overwhelmed at the prospect of having a child and may be deeply conflicted and vulnerable. Many may feel abortion is the only option. These women should be treated with respect and sensitivity.
However, these women should be given support and true choice.. A just and compassionate society will assist women who find themselves in difficulty because of pregnancy to be supported, socially and financially. A just and compassionate society will not discard the lives of its youngest and most vulnerable members – its children.
