Congratulations to Senators Jacinta Nampijinpa Price and Kerrynne Liddle

ACL spokesman Christopher Brohier said, “These announcements give a real voice to the first peoples of Australia. Senators Price and Liddle are exemplars to all indigenous people, that Australia is a land of opportunity and that its first peoples are able to participate and help direct this country, at the highest levels”.

He said, “The appointment of Senator Price to the shadow Indigenous Affairs portfolio will ensure there is a real debate in relation the Voice referendum. That is what is sorely needed, as we contemplate this important referendum.

“Senator Liddle has been an effective advocate for marginalised people (shown by her recent successful advocacy on behalf of an Alice Springs family who were moved to emergency housing). We hope her one of her first priorities as shadow child protection minister will be addressing the broken child protection systems in the nation, especially in relation to indigenous children”.

The ACL looks forward to working closely with these two senators, and all parliamentarians, to provide a better outcome for indigenous people and at-risk kids.
