Last night saw a further 2 forums, in the electorates of Bayswater and Mordialloc. One is currently held by the Libs the other by the ALP. Unfortunately the ALP candidate did not make an appearance at the Bayswater forum.
Again the regular issues were raised by the audience with the additional matter of funding for non-government schools. Reports that the Greens want to cut funding to non-government schools has many people worried and rightly so.
The possibility of a hung Parliament or a Green/Labor coalition is increasingly real. While the media speculates about deals being considered by the Greens with both of the major parties, one wonders which might be a greater concern to Christians, the above mentioned collation (as has happened both in Tasmania and Federally) or the Liberal party doing deals with the Greens and gaining government? Many have asked me if seeing the Greens gain a foothold in the Lower House is such a good idea. Given their polices on euthanasia, gay marriage and the school funding issues, I find myself concerned about their influence on either party.
Anyway, off to the prayer meeting at Parliament house tonight, praying specifically for the Victorian election. See here
