The Australian Christian Lobby has called on the Yes Campaign to condemn the latest humiliating purge of tennis legend Margaret Court.
“If there are truly no consequences for the rights and freedoms of other Australians, why was Ms Court purged as patron of the John Forrest Secondary College in Perth?” Coalition for Marriage spokesperson and ACL managing director Lyle Shelton asked.
“We are continually told that freedom of speech and freedom of religion will not be affected under same-sex marriage law.
“But yet again we are seeing, even before any change to the law, people like Margaret Court being punished because of their views on marriage.
“If the Yes Campaign truly believes Australia will continue to be a plural, tolerant and diverse society, they should call for the reinstatement of Margaret Court as patron of John Forrest Secondary College,” Mr Shelton said.
