WA Premier Colin Barnett and Opposition Leader Mark McGowan have both committed to provide funding for the chaplaincy program being run in WA schools.
Chaplaincy is run by hundreds of volunteers and more than 400 employed chaplains and support staff who offer support to thousands of students across WA.
In committing to continue funding at $6 million per annum, Premier Colin Barnett acknowledged that the chaplaincy program offered a great service to children and to their families taking pressure off schools.
Mr McGowan also said chaplains were important to provide support to students and committed to continue the funding should the Labor Party win the election.
