ACL submission to the National Health and Medical Research Council’s review of the draft ethical guidelines on the use of Assisted Reproductive Technology
The Tasmanian Department of Premier and Cabinet has put forward a proposal to amend the Tasmanian Constitution's preamble to recognise Aboriginal people.
Cairns MP, Rob Pyne, has introduced a private members bill named Abortion Law Reform (Women's Right to Choose) Amendment Bill 2016. If passed, the bill would remove provisions relating to abortion from the Criminal Code in Queensland. The bill is now before a committee which will consider the bill in detail.
Queensland is considering a bill that would create a new regulatory framework under which Medicinal Cannabis products may be prescribed and dispensed to patients. Recreational use of the drug would remain illegal. A public consultation on the proposed bill is now underway with written submissions having closed on 11 July 2016.
Aboriginal Youth Suicide is a growing concern not only within Aboriginal communities, but the greater regions of WA. The inquiry was based on what more can be done to halt the worrying number of suicides among Aboriginal youth in Western Australia, particularly in remote communities, and to determine what resources have been set aside to tackle this crucial issue facing the State.
The Victorian Government is currently conducting a public consultation to improve palliative care service improvements and assist the development of an end of life care framework. The Australian Christian Lobby was able to contribute to the discussion by making a submission.

An inquiry into the Adoption Act 1988 and Adoption Regulations 2004 is underway. ACL has provided a submission to the committee, arguing that eligibility for those seeking adoption should not be extended to alternate family structures beyond heterosexual couples.
The United Nations is currently conducting a Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of 42 countries, Australia being one.
Together with Family Voice Australia and the Wilberforce Foundation, ACL has made a joint NGO submission to the UPR.
