What is ACL?

The Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) is a grassroots movement of over 250,000 people seeking to bring a Christian influence to Australian politics. We want to see Christian values and ethics influencing the way Australians are governed, do business and relate as a society. We are strictly non-party partisan and do not receive any government funding.

Should Christians be involved in politics?

In Australia we have the privilege of democracy, and our nation’s laws are shaped by the input of its citizens. The Bible says, “Righteousness exalts a nation” (Prov 14:34). Therefore we make full use of democratic process to bring godly influence to the laws which govern us.

We do this because behind every law are people whose lives are affected by legislation. We love people and care for their welfare. We also want to keep doors open for the gospel to be preached.

Is ACL a charity?

Yes. The primary purpose of ACL is the advancement of the Gospel.

Is the ACL tax deductible or have Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status?

No. Donations to ACL are not tax deductible.

Can I vote for ACL?

No. ACL is not a political party.

Can ACL tell me who to vote for or advise me how to vote?

No. ACL will not tell people who to vote for. ACL provides information on the Christian values of candidates and parties so voters can make an informed choice.

Who are the Christian candidates I can vote for?

ACL does not always provide lists of candidates with Christian values for each election. We encourage candidates to provide this information themselves and/or for voters to call local representatives to ask their stand on values and issues.

Why have I received mail from the ACL when my letterbox has ‘no junk mail’?

How is my donation used by ACL?

Donations to ACL are allocated to funding:

  1. Election activity.
  2. Issue-related campaigning.
  3. Educating and equipping ACL’s grassroots movement.
  4. Operational needs to service the above.
