The Australian Human Rights Commission’s (AHRC) recent inquiry into transgender human rights has raised serious concerns among experts and advocacy groups, including the ACL, in regards to its narrow focus and deliberate exclusionary approach.

When the average Australian scratches below the surface of this inquiry, they will be shocked to find it is not about human rights at all, but rather a brazen attempt to entrench transgender ideology into every sphere of our society.

The taxpayer-funded AHRC’s decision to restrict submissions to individuals and Civil Society Organisations with “expertise” in transgender matters (i.e. activists) has effectively silenced the voices of millions of Australians harbouring legitimate concerns about the impact of transgender ideology on society, particularly on children and adolescents.

The inquiry’s terms of reference reflect strong bias and lack of balance. By framing the discussion around specific terms like “anti-trans mobilisation” and “disinformation,” the AHRC preemptively casts any dissenting viewpoints on gender – including those from the faith community – as illegitimate or harmful.

The inquiry also fails to address the broader societal implications of transgender ideology, particularly as it intersects with the rights of women and girls, who face the increasing encroachment of their single-sex spaces, sports and facilities.

The exclusion of dissenting voices from the inquiry process reflects a troubling trend towards ideological censorship and the suppression of legitimate debate, undermining our democracy and eroding public trust.

Concerned Australians must act now to demand transparency, inclusivity, and fairness in the inquiry process. By speaking out we can ensure that all voices are heard and that the rights of all Australians are protected.

Join us in calling for accountability and integrity in the AHRC’s inquiry into transgender human rights. Together, we can uphold the principles of democracy and safeguard the rights and freedoms of all Australians.
