Qld: The importance of the outcome of this election cannot be overstated

The Queensland election is underway and the Qld State government for the next four years will be decided this coming Saturday.

The importance of the outcome of this election cannot be overstated. Competing promises have been made by both major parties regarding abortion, euthanasia, and the teaching of gender fluid ideology to our school children. The contrast is stark. I am reminded of the words of Deuteronomy 30:15-20 –

“See, I set before you today life and prosperity death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess. This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him.”

Our Queensland office has been working tirelessly, aided by a dedicated army of volunteers, in order to let voters know where candidates sit in regards to issues that will have a profound effect on their family and on the families of our state and nation. Over 400,000 flyers have been letterboxed, circulating voting information and directing voters to our Qld election website.

To identify the candidates who we believe will work for the flourishing of our State, every party received a detailed questionnaire, and each individual candidate was sent our Child Protection survey. On the basis of this work, we have been able to advise voters which of their candidates most closely align with truth and life. This information has been carefully collated, sent to supporters, and uploaded onto the Qld election website.

Candidates in key electorates were given the opportunity to participate in a video interview with Qld State Director, Wendy Francis. Meet your Candidate forums were held for nine key electorates.

Underpinning all of this work have been our faithful prayer supporters. Daily and fervent prayer has been the key and the foundation of our campaign. The 2020 Qld election campaign will end on Saturday. But our prayer for God’s will to be done on earth, as it is in heaven, will continue. And we will seek, by all means possible, to continue to speak truth in the public squares.
