The leaked files of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) show that the gender transitioning treatments used at Perth Children’s Hospital Gender Diversity Service are not fit for purpose.
West Australian State Director of the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL), Peter Abetz said, “It is a shocking revelation that this “trusted” global organisation (WPATH) has been found to be violating ’medical ethics and informed consent’ particularly in light of the fact that Perth Children’s Hospital Gender Diversity Service is one of many clinics that have relied upon WPATH to draft their standard of care and treatment guidelines on transgender treatments.”
Investigative Journalist, Michael Shellenberger, pointed out the lack of credibility of WPATH, saying, “The WPATH Files show that what is called ‘gender medicine’ is neither science nor medicine.”
WA State Director of the ACL, Peter Abetz said, “The 250 pages of leaked WPATH messages have exposed the ugly truth that health professionals are aware of life-long irreversible harms caused by puberty blockers and hormonal therapy, including carcinogenic risks, yet continue on the path of hormonal gender treatments to gender transition children.”
“The health of so many children has been sacrificed in this experimental project, as ideologically driven health professionals use outdated treatments on children whilst knowing they are unable to quantify the life-long physical and psychological harms.”
The revelation of WPATH’s leaked files underscores the urgent need for an independent inquiry into the affirmative model pursued by our Gender Diversity Service.
The ACL calls for the immediate suspension of all gender transition treatments until an urgent inquiry into the degree of reliance of the GDS on WPATH’s guidelines is resolved.
