Malinauskas Rules Out Conscience Vote for Inquiry Into Gender Dysphoria

In a disappointing move, the South Australian government have refused to support an inquiry into the care being provided to minors with gender dysphoria.

Christopher Brohier, National Policy Director for the Australian Christian Lobby, has strongly criticized the decision, saying, “Despite widespread support, the Premier has not allowed a conscience vote on independent MLC Frank Pangallo’s proposed inquiry.

“The Premier has said that he would prefer an examination ‘done in a methodical, policy-based way, based on the science, the best available medical advice’, but without an inquiry, it is unclear what this “best available medical advice” is and how it will be determined.

“With the shocking rise in young people seeking treatment for gender dysphoria in recent years, and mounting evidence that treatments being used are causing irreversible harm, Labor’s decision to ignore the issue is untenable. Our kids are being fast-tracked down the path of experimental medications.”

Mr Brohier continued, “Shattered parents have personally contacted me expressing their disappointment in this decision. It is imperative that the South Australian government holds an inquiry with independent experts that are not just surrogates for the Department.

“This is about our children, our young people, receiving the care they deserve.”

The Australian Christian Lobby urges the Hon Peter Malinauskas MP to reverse his decision and allow an inquiry to take place.
