Palaszczuk Government throws women’s safety under the bus

Queensland Health Minister, Shannon Fentiman has tabled a Bill,

Health and Other Legislation Amendment Bill (No. 2) 2023, that will allow nurses and midwives to prescribe dangerous abortion pills.

ACL’s Queensland Director, Rob Norman, said, “This irresponsible Bill falsely treats abortion as if it were a contraception. The killing of an unborn child and associated risks to women’s health should never become routine.

“Nurses and midwives are not qualified to deal with health complications as a result of medical abortion and we know that one in five women need surgery after medical abortions.”

Mr Norman said, “The National Association of Specialist Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (NASOG) have rightly expressed their deep concern at Queensland’s cavalier approach to abortion.”

The Australian Christian Lobby urges all Queensland MPs, regardless of party affiliation, to exercise their consciences and oppose this dangerous and irresponsible Bill.
