Decriminalised Prostitution Feeds Human Trafficking

According to copies leaked to the media, a review into Australia’s Visa system by former Victorian police commissioner Christine Nixon, has found widespread cases of sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and other organised crime activities.

Queensland Director for the Australian Christian Lobby, Rob Norman said, “The only winners of decriminalisation are the pimps and third parties who feed off the exploitation of vulnerable foreign women and girls.

The human trafficking of temporary workers will only increase if the Palaszczuk Labor Government presses ahead with its plans for the full decriminalization of prostitution in Queensland.”

Mr. Norman added, “Queensland should follow the example of South Australian MLC, Hon. Nicola Centofanti, who has introduced a Nordic style ‘Equality Model’ Bill into the SA Parliament that will prosecute pimps and third parties profiting from prostitution and provide exit paths for prostituted persons.”

ACL calls on the Queensland Government to abandon its plans for full decriminalisation and shut down the sex trafficking industry by adopting the Equality Model.
